5 Things to Think about When Choosing a Propane Patio Heater

May 18, 2022 –

Getting a propane patio heater can extend the life of your open-air get-togethers.

Propane patio heaters can help keep your outdoor party going outside well into the fall – and can help it start earlier in the spring. Here are some things to consider when shopping.

Size, power, and heating area

When choosing a patio heater, the three most important features to consider are its size, heat output, and the area it will cover. Depending on the brand and style of the heater the area it heats may vary, so make sure to choose a unit with the right heating diameter.

Mounting type

The three types of propane gas patio heaters are wall-mounted, table top patio heaters, and freestanding. Tabletop heaters are about four feet tall, while freestanding heaters are between seven and nine feet tall. One factor to consider when choosing between a tabletop and a freestanding heater is whether you prefer a cylinder or disposable canister.

Safety Features

A patio heater’s most popular safety feature is the anti-tip feature, which shuts off the heater if it’s tipped past a certain angle. Look for units with this feature, as well as an oxygen depletion sensor (ODS) and an overfill protection device (OPD).

Fuel efficiency

Find your heater’s annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) rating. The higher the rating, the more efficient the appliance is, meaning lower bills for you.

Style and other features

Many propane heaters are available in different styles, from modern stainless steel to classic copper and enamel. Other considerations include whether the heater is portable or stationary, and its shape or design.

I’m planning to have heaters installed in my patio area because this will help keep th place warm, especially dueitng the winter season. Thank you for these tips; I’ll make sure to consider the patio heater’s physical size, power, and heating diametr before making any purchases. Well, you’re also right that it would be best to check its annual fuel utilization efficiency.

My boss is looking for advice on how to warm his patio during cold evenings so that he’d be able to enjoy it. I had no clue that a propane patio heater exists, and it’s also made to be efficient in consuming its fuel. I should recommend this to my boss so he could use it for his party next weekend.

I actually have some fans on a Facebook page related to this stuff. I’ll share your post of Patios with them and see what they have to say. I’m sure they’ll love it though.
